Banh canh Ca Loc is a popular dish in the center of Viet Nam with the available ingredient like: snake head fish, rice flour or wheat flour. The farmers can catch a fish while working on the field. After simple process and spice, they have a beautiful , delicious dish for the middle morning meal or the afternoon snack. Nowadays, it is not only a famous street food but also the local speciality.

Ingredients: Serve 3
500 g sliced banh canh
1 kg marrowbones
350 meat of snack head fish
Lemongrass, satay sauce, fried onion and garlic, coriander, pepper, sugar and fish sauce.


- Put banh canh into hot water until see its translucent then take out and sprinkle with cool water. Set aside.
- Boil banh canh with a little bit salt
- Put bone in hot water for 30 mins with 1.8 litters water
- Boil fish in 5 mins and take it out, mariate with salt, fish sauce, fried onion and garlic, pepper.
- Stir-fry lemon grass, satay and add to pot of bone. Add some spices for more flavour and add banh canh into pot and try when it still hot.

Useful Tips to make Banh Canh Ca Loc

Although it is easy to make Banh Canh Ca Loc, it requires skills. Rice flour should be tough and sweet naturally. Moreover, peole have to focus on making slice of flour, not to wet or dry. Fish is fresh, big and firm meat. People usually keep fish in lake and feed with industrial processed food. Therefore, its meat is not delicious than free fish on the field.
It is more delicious to enjoy hot one, so you can smell all the special by smoke from the bowl. You eat with spicy of chilli, hot of sauce and sweat from your body. This is the real style of Banh Canh Ca Loc.
